𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

On June 5, 2026, the United Nations Environment Programme celebrates World Environment Day under the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”

This year’s focus on climate action resonates deeply with the objectives of the ECO-HERITAGE project. Cultural heritage and urban greenery are not merely assets to be preserved: they represent concrete instruments for climate mitigation and adaptation in urban sprawl areas.

Through a comparative analysis of the juridical models governing four European case studies – La Mandria (Turin), Park Güell (Barcelona), the Historic Site of Lyon, and the Lisbon Botanical Gardens – ECO-HERITAGE aims to identify the potentialities and limits of existing management frameworks and to elaborate a new set of policies and a public-private contractual model for the integrated management of cultural heritage and greenery in urban and peri-urban areas.
